Join GNO Property Management and a host of local experts and businesses this Saturday, June 6th at Fontainebleau High School from 9am-1pm for the first annual Hurricane Preparedness Expo. This unique event will feature vendors and speakers on the subject of hurricane readiness, evacuation and what to do after the storm. The event will be moderated by Fox8’s own Rob Masson.
Because preparation is the best protection against the dangers of a hurricane, or any disaster, the Red Cross is also collaborating on the event.
“By taking a few easy actions like updating your emergency kit and family plan, you can prepare for hurricanes and other emergencies,” said Kay W. Wilkins, regional chief executive for the Red Cross in Louisiana. “Even if you took action to prepare last hurricane season, it’s important that you revisit and update your communication plan and check your kit for expired items. Being prepared in advance will save you valuable time if a storm threatens our community.”
Residents are invited to meet with community first responders; businesses available to help secure, clean and repair property in the event of a storm; insurance experts to explain coverage and the claims process; and disaster contingency planners to share what to do in the event of an evacuation. Among Red Cross activities will be those geared toward children.
Sponsored by GNO Property Management, American Red Cross, Inside Northside Magazine, and St. Tammany Parish Government, this free event will feature a variety of speakers, including the following:
